Los ESPOOKYS
As October rolls in and Halloween decorations go up, it’s hard not to get caught up in the spooky spirit of the season. The air gets crisp, the pumpkins come out, and everyone starts dressing up in the most creative (and sometimes scary af) costumes. There’s something so fun and joyful about wandering around, embracing all the scary vibes.
But as I reflect on this season, I thought to myself: what if we did this every day? What if we embraced the "scaries" not just in October, but year-round? Check it—on Halloween, we embrace what we fear, we wear it as a costume, and we go straight chillin at night. So what if we approached the fears in our own lives the same way??
We all have fears, right? Whether it's the fear of failing at something new, the fear of what others think, or just that old friendly fear of not being enough. Most of the time, these fears stay hidden behind invisible masks that we put on every day—masks of perfectionism, busyness, avoidance, etc etc. But what if we took a page from Halloween and wore these masks openly and faced our fears head-on?
What if instead of running away from our insecurities, we learned to acknowledge them? Instead of letting the fear of failure keep us stuck, what if we learned how to wear that mask proudly and walk forward anyway? Halloween shows us that we have the power to embrace what scares us, transform it, and walk through it, even in the dark.
Let’s be real—life can be super scary. But here's the thing: the more we embrace those fears, the less power they have over us. On Halloween, we laugh at jump scares and all the spooky stuff, right? So why not learn to laugh at our own fears? When we see them for what they really are—just part of being human, just part of this wild ride we’re all on—the fears start to lose some of their power.
Imagine if every day, we put on our "scary masks" and walked through life with the same playful energy we have on Halloween. Fear of trying something new? Wear that mask and try it anyway. Fear of being vulnerable? Embrace it, and be you, boo. Fear of not being perfect? Celebrate the beauty of being a wonderfully imperfect human being!
Halloween teaches us that the scariest things often aren't as terrifying as we imagine. When we put on our spooky masks, we take control of our fears—and in doing so, we reclaim our power. How dope is that?
We don’t have to wait for Halloween to embrace the "scaries." Every day is an opportunity to walk into the unknown, face the things that make us nervous, and trust that we have the strength to handle whatever comes our way. The magic of Halloween is in its ability to turn fear into fun—and we can carry that magic with us year-round by facing our fears with courage, grace, and maybe even a little playfulness.
So this October, as you slip into your costume and step into the night, remember that you have the power to embrace the scaries every day. Wear your fears like a costume, walk through the darkness, and keep it moving. Who knows what amazing stuff lies on the other side of fear? It could be the joy, growth, and that #BuenaVida you’ve been craving!
